Welcome to MilSim.io

This announcement has been a long time coming. I am very pleased to release MilSim.io, a platform focused on providing MilSim communities with the visibility and tools they need to succeed.

MilSim has been in development for a year now, and having partnered with several ArmA 3 and Reforger communities, we’ve been able to shape the toolset that communities need, into something truly helpful. We’re bringing 2 main offerings with the initial release of MilSim.

C2 - Command & Control

Carrying on from the legacy of Unit Commander, and Unit Commander Pro, C2 brings a fresh take to the classic admin tools we’ve been providing for years. We’ve introduced some really neat new functionality, including (but certainly not limited to):

  • Community Forms - build custom forms for situations like leaves of absence, mod requests and more.
  • Customisable Dashboard - whether you’re a community recruiter, or a rifleman, there’s tools and widgets available to show you exactly what you need.
  • Automation - this is a brand new approach to MilSim automation. Automation Flows are a highly configurable system that allow you to create fully custom flows to assign ranks, units, roles (and more), send Discord messages, and a few other neat tricks. Perfect for onboarding new recruits, or simplifying admin workflows.
  • Language support - thanks to a helpful community member, we’re pleased to offer Spanish & German translations to C2, covering most of the major text areas.

MilSim Rank

We wanted to provide a first class experience for players trying to find a new community. To start, we’ve introduced two new systems, Find a Community, and a bespoke ranking system.

Find a community lets a player input their preferences - what games they want to play, what regions they’re willing to play in, and their play styles. Our platform will then match the players with the most popular communities that day, ranking by the number of tokens the community has. Our ranking system has been built on the premise of providing fair opportunities to communities with active player bases, where every player vote increases your community’s position in the leaderboard. MilSim Rank offers multiple tiers for increasing visibility - including the “Special Operations” tier, limited to 12 communities, to put the community right on MilSim’s front door.

We’re super excited to see the many communities of Arma 3, Reforger, DCS and more join our system!

What’s next?

We’re not stopping here. We have so many great ideas to continue implementing. Right now, I’m happy to share that we are working on developing “MilSim Comms”, a messaging system to allow potential recruits to connect with communities, communities to speak to applicants, and for communities to organise joint events. I’m also happy to share plans for MilSim Pulse, an integrated social media system coming within the next 6 months - more details on this to come in the near future.

Unit Commander Communities - Read this!

For all our Unit Commander Pro customers, you’ll be relieved to hear that we are able to offer you Day 0 migration facilities, to move your community to the new MilSim platform to avail of the new systems we’ve developed. These will not come at any additional charges, as the MilSim C2 pricing has stayed the same.

Unit Commander will be sunsetting services at the end of June, at which point we’ll say a final good bye to the servers, and you will lose access to the system.

If you wish to migrate your data, open a technical support ticket with us on our Discord: https://discord.gg/milsim-io

A personal note

For those of you who have been around a while, 101st Airborne Division, 6th Airborne Division, and many more communities, you’ll know we’ve been working to provide the best experience for community leaders over the last 5-6 years.

Starting with Unit Commander in 2020, what we’ve achieved as a community of MilSim players has been exceptional, and I’m very proud of what we’ve built. We’ve amassed 15 thousand users, 700+ communities. We’ve ran 2 large scale joint operations, Griffin Strike and Ares Moon - both huge successes. Unit Commander, and now MilSim, has been a huge hobby project of mine, and I’m really excited to share this next step.

Thank you. Thank you to every player and every MilSim community who has entrusted us over the last half decade, we wouldn’t be where we are today without you. I want to thank the members of my staff team for their efforts, in handling support tickets, being a sounding board for my ideas, helping me run our events, and for what’s to come.
